Opportunities @ t-lab We are now accepting applications for incoming graduate students. For a summary of the research conducted in the lab, read our research statement. In addition to having a strong interest in the subject matter, a viable applicant should show competence in mathematics, quantitative methods, or computation. For more information, contact Dr. Bosco Tjan. Current openings are available for USC undergraduate students who are interested in learning about psychophysics, the visual system, EEG, fMRI, or scientific research in general. Undergraduate applicants must be students of USC. For this to be a worthwhile research experience, you should feel comfortable with mathematics and have some experience with computer programming (even the experience of building a website will be helpful). For more information, contact Dr. Bosco Tjan. This position has been filled. [5/26/2009] A postdoc to study peripheral vision and image enhancement is available immediately. We are looking for a creative individual with solid training in visual psychophysics. Viable candidate should have excellent writing, computer programming (any language), and quantitative skills. Experience in low vision research or fMRI is desirable but not required. Our lab is supported by grants from the NIH. The research group currently consists of one postdoc, one RA, three graduate and two undergraduate students. The group dynamic is friendly, open, and collaborative. We occupy a newly renovated space with a great view from the top floor of a ten-story building. The lab is well-equipped. Our research-dedicated fMRI center, which Bosco helped found, is conveniently located in an attached building. USC has a strong and vibrant research community in vision (http://cvst.usc.edu/), covering topics as diverse as retinal and cortical physiology, visual cognition, computational vision, and retinal prosthesis. Our laboratory has active collaborations with several of these groups. Interested individuals should email Bosco with a current CV and the names of three references. |
